Coach Douaine Anderson to Represent Team GB MaxiBasketball Over 40s at European Championship in Pesaro, Italy
St. Peter's Collegiate Academy's community and the wider Wolverhampton area are proud to announce that Douaine Anderson, Director of Three Spires SLAM! Basketball Academy, and a cherished member of our community, will be flying overseas on Thursday, 20th June to represent Team Great Britain Over 40s in the European Maxibasketball Championship in Pesaro, Italy. This prestigious 10-day tournament marks the third time Coach Anderson has represented Great Britain in an international tournament, having previously competed in Malaga, Spain in 2022 and Mar del Plata, Argentina in 2023.
Douaine Anderson's participation in the European Championship is not only a testament to his enduring skill and dedication to basketball but also serves as an inspiration to students and club members alike. "It feels great to still be able to play at my age with players I used to play with and against in my younger years," Anderson shared. "It's also great to inspire our students and club members that sports at a high level can be a lifelong endeavor."
Over the past eight months, Douaine has undergone an intense training regimen in preparation for this tournament, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to excellence and the sport he loves. As he joins his teammates in Italy, Douaine looks forward to contributing to Team GB's efforts and hopes to bring back a medal.
