New Build 2025

PRESS RELEASE 17.10.22

ST PETER’S COLLEGIATE ACADEMY REBUILD 2025

Following the announcement in late 2020 that St Peter’s Collegiate Academy was to be one of the first schools in the country to be part of the new DfE school rebuilding programme; the academy and Three Spires Trust have worked with contractors to undertake several feasibility studies on our site to determine the location of our new school building.

On September 28th 2022, Kier Construction were appointed by the DfE as the main contractor for our new building and the Trust are delighted to be able to share the preferred location of our new building and the first artist impressions and design concepts.

Vice Principal, Daniel Sherriff said,

“The appointment of Kier Construction is an important milestone for the project and we are delighted with the progress made so far in our journey to a new academy building.

“Although St Peter’s is much more than the buildings, it is undoubted that moving into a new building in 2025 will transform the education we offer to our students currently and in the future. State of the art learning environments will be central to our core business of empowering students to become curious, independent and proactive members of society through a broad and rich curriculum, delivered both in and outside of the classroom.”

The new academy building will replace four of our current seven buildings and will be located on the site of “A block”. Contractors are expected to commence on site Summer 2023, with those subjects currently taught in A block moving into temporary accommodation in Autumn 2023. This specialist accommodation is provided as part of the project to minimise disruption to teaching and learning for our students. It is anticipated that the new building will open in the Summer of 2025 and during that autumn blocks B, C and F will make way for enhanced outdoor facilities.

David Yorke, regional director, Kier Construction Eastern and Midlands, said:

“We’re delighted to be appointed by the DfE to support St Peters Academy and Three Spires Trust to develop the design, and ultimately deliver this important new school building.

“As experts in delivering education projects in live school environments, we understand the needs of the school to continue to support their students’ education. We look forward to playing our part in creating a first-class educational setting for pupils, students, staff and local communities in Wolverhampton.”

Parking at St Peter's Collegiate Academy

As part of our new build programme, Reception has been temporarily relocated, leading to a reduction in our on-site parking capacity. As parking is now at a premium, we respectfully request that visitors park courteously and avoid blocking others. In addition to the main car park next to Reception, which tends to get busy, we have a temporary car park available. To ensure a smooth visit, we recommend allowing extra time to find a parking space, either in one of our car parks or on the road. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
