Why Study Business Studies?

Business studies at St Peter's Collegiate Academy offers students an understanding of the dynamic world of business, equipping them with skills in decision-making, problem-solving, and strategic thinking. It cultivates essential skills for entrepreneurship, management, and ethical leadership, enabling students to navigate and succeed in a globalised economy.

Curriculum Vision

Our business studies curriculum empowers students to develop analytical and critical-thinking skills. Through the exploration of real-world business scenarios, we foster an entrepreneurial mindset and prepare students to make informed decisions, promote sustainability, and contribute positively to society.

Key Stage 4 - Years 10 - 11

At Key Stage 4, students follow the Edexcel Business course, which covers topics such as enterprise, marketing, finance, and human resources. Students gain foundational knowledge of how businesses operate and the skills to analyse business decisions, setting a strong base for future studies.

Key Stage 5 - Years 12 - 13

In Key Stage 5, students delve deeper into business concepts through the Edexcel A-level Business course. They study strategic decision-making, global business, and operational management. The curriculum encourages a critical understanding of business theories and their practical applications. The CTEC Business vocational qualification is designed with the workplace and progression to higher education in mind and provides a high-quality alternative to A-levels at level 3. The course is designed to help students to achieve their potential and progress to the next stage of their lives, whether that’s higher education, an apprenticeship or employment.

Curriculum Enrichment

Our curriculum is enriched through various opportunities, such as visits to local businesses, listening to guest speakers, and taking part in enterprise projects. Students participate in business competitions, gaining hands-on experience and practical insights. These experiences enhance their learning and provide a glimpse into real-world business environments.

Careers

Graduates of business studies can pursue careers in diverse fields including marketing, finance, human resources, entrepreneurship, and consulting. The curriculum prepares students for roles such as business analyst, project manager, accountant, and financial advisor. Those interested in further studies can advance to degrees in business administration, economics, or related fields, opening doors to leadership roles in corporate, nonprofit, or government sectors. Business studies provides a versatile foundation that enables students to adapt to and excel in a constantly evolving career landscape.
